You can use the Ellipse tool to draw both ellipses (with independent width and height) and circles (with constrained width and height). To do this, select the Ellipse tool; then click in the document window and drag. Release the mouse button to make your ellipse. Photoshop creates the ellipse with one corner at the point where you start dragging, and the other corner where you finish dragging. Of course, ellipses and circles don t have corners, so imagine a bounding box surrounding the ellipse, touching its top, bottom, left, and right edges. The corners of this imaginary rectangle are the corners we re talking about here. Creating ellipses like this can be counterintuitive and hard to judge; you ll probably prefer to create your ellipses by dragging from their centers instead. To do this, simply press Alt (Option on the Mac) after you start dragging, and hold it down.
